The Willem de Kooning (Art!) Academy is undergoing one of the biggest reorganizations in the history of our school, all with close to 0 transparency from the board and too little involvement of students, teachers and staff. This will have dramatic effects on the quality of our education and consequently the Arts and Cultural landscape of Rotterdam if we, the students, are not included in the process.

This is part of a broader issue in the educational system in The Netherlands. One that prioritizes profit over education. One that reveals layers of corporate greed, where the people in executional positions put efficiency over authenticity. One that threatens the encouragement of critical thinking- something so crucial for an artistic institution. We do not stand with these measures. We are tired of ambiguity, and we have demands.
